Problems We’re Solving
- Urban Pollution & Poor Air Quality: Many cities like Skopje face severe air pollution. Our solutions promote urban greenery and healthier environments.
- Limited Access to Fresh Produce: By enabling vertical farming and smart greenhouses, we empower people to grow food locally—even in apartments.
- Water & Energy Waste in Agriculture: Our automated systems use sensors to minimize water and energy consumption.
- Lack of Data for Smart Decisions: Our weather stations deliver live environmental data to guide smarter actions in farming and city planning.
Why LeafUP?
LeafUP stands at the intersection of sustainability and smart technology. Unlike traditional agriculture tools or generic IoT kits, our solutions are:
- Purpose-Built: Designed specifically for urban and indoor agriculture.
- Affordable & Scalable: From hobbyists to schools and small farms.
- Eco-Friendly: Solar-powered options and water-saving algorithms.
- Open to Innovation: We’re committed to open-source ideals and community collaboration.
Our Journey: From Green Impact to LeafUP 🌱
1. Why We Started LeafUP
Our Motivation: Skopje, one of the most polluted cities in Europe, served as the backdrop for our journey. The air quality crisis and the decline in agriculture drove us to take action. We wanted to make a real impact, raise awareness about environmental issues, and help create sustainable solutions that can transform both the local community and the planet.
Our Mission: Through LeafUP, we aim to address these challenges by promoting smart, sustainable technologies that improve air quality, conserve resources, and support the local agricultural industry.
2. Origins: Green Impact Company
Foundation: Established in Skopje, North Macedonia, Green Impact Company focused on sustainable technological solutions.
Innovations:
- Mini Smart Greenhouse: A cost-effective, portable smart greenhouse with sensors and solar panels, conserving energy and minimizing water usage.
- This innovation won a competition organized by the Leaders for Education, Activism, and Development (LEAD) association as part of the UPSHIFT program.
3. Evolution into LeafUP
Rebranding: To align with a broader vision of integrating smart technology with sustainability, Green Impact Company transitioned into LeafUP.
Expanded Focus: LeafUP now offers a range of products, including:
- Smart Greenhouses: Automated systems for watering plants and monitoring environmental conditions.
- Smart Vertical Farms: Innovative solutions for growing crops in limited spaces with efficient resource utilization.
- Mini Smart Weather Stations: Devices providing real-time data on temperature, humidity, and other atmospheric parameters.
